  • Chromebook return information

    Yuma Union High School District will begin processing Chromebook returns on Monday, May 18, 2020 with time slots in place daily for each cohort. Students should bring their device, case, and charger. 

    Families are encouraged to take a photograph of any physical damage to the device prior to the return date. Additionally, students are welcome to return any additional school items such as textbooks, calculators, etc. during this time. 

    As a reminder, in the interest of safety and social distancing, all drop offs will be DRIVE-UP ONLY. Please remain in your vehicle and have the items prepared to pass to school staff.

  • Información de devolución de Chromebook

    Yuma Union High School District comenzará a procesar las devoluciones de Chromebook el lunes, 18 de mayo de 2020 con un horario establecido para cada grupo de estudiantes. Los estudiantes deben traer su dispositivo, estuche y cargador. 

    Se les recomienda a las familias tomar una fotografía de cualquier daño físico al dispositivo antes de la fecha de devolución. Adicionalmente, los estudiantes pueden devolver cualquier otro artículo escolar, como libros de texto, calculadoras, etc. durante este tiempo.

  • UPDATED info about equipment pick up and drop off

    Last week, Yuma Union High School Distric put forth a plan for students to return equipment, uniforms, and various other items to their respective campuses. During this time, schools will also be coordinating times for students to access locker rooms and other facilities to pick up items left behind when schools closed.  

    Below are drop off procedures, including dates, times, and locations with additional details for Physical Education cohorts, fine arts students, and band members to pick up items. Please note: items left in locker rooms will be cleared out after May 31, cleaned, and placed into lost and found.

    As a reminder, all drop offs will be DRIVE-UP ONLY. Please remain in your vehicle and have the items prepared to pass to school staff. For those who are picking up items from your campus, please remain in the vehicle line until you are directed to a parking spot by staff.

    La semana pasada, Yuma Union High School District presentó un plan para que los estudiantes devolvieran equipo deportivo, uniformes y otros artículos a sus respectivas escuelas. Durante este tiempo, las escuelas también coordinarán los horarios para que los estudiantes tengan acceso a los vestuarios y otras instalaciones para recoger los artículos que se quedaron cuando las escuelas cerraron.  

    A continuación se detallan los procedimientos de entrega, que incluyen fechas, horarios y lugares con detalles adicionales para grupos de educación física, estudiantes de bellas artes y miembros de la banda para recoger artículos.   • Problems accessing Synergy

    UPDATE: Thank you, families, for bringing issues accessing Synergy to our attention. We are working with Synergy to resolve a server issue that occurred after sending our earlier message regarding the release of updated grades. Based on Synergy’s feedback, ParentVUE will be down until 6AM tomorrow to fully resolve the issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

  • Teacher provide updated grades on ParentVUE

    YUHSD teachers have posted updated grades in ParentVUE. You can access the updated grades by logging into your ParentVUE account and clicking on your student(s) name. From there, click “gradebook” and the updated grades will appear. 

    Students will continue to receive assignments via the Canvas Learning Management System until final grades are posted the week of May 18. As mentioned previously, distance learning will only improve a student’s academic standing.

    Los maestros han publicado calificaciones actualizadas en ParentVUE. Puede acceder las calificaciones actualizadas en su cuenta ParentVUE, haciendo clic en el nombre de su estudiante. Desde allí, haga clic en “gradebook" y aparecerán las calificaciones actualizadas. 

    Los estudiantes continuarán recibiendo tareas a través del Sistema de Aprendizaje de Canvas hasta que se publiquen las calificaciones finales la semana del 18 de mayo. Como se mencionó anteriormente, el aprendizaje a distancia solo mejorará la posición académica de un estudiante.

  • How to pay fees

    Yuma Union High School District students who have fees due can make payments on their respective school’s web store or via check. For those unsure what fees are owed, statements are expected to be mailed to families this week. 

    Please note: YUHSD cannot accept cash payments at this time. However, convenience fees for all web store payments have been waived.

How to protect yourself against COVID-19

Information About Distance Learning

  • Yuma Union High School District has a plan in place in the event schools were to close and distance learning were to take place. Distance learning is the education of students who may not always be physically present at a school. It can be successfully accomplished through the use of learning management systems. In this case, YUHSD uses Canvas. Our distance learning student page will help you navigate using Canvas.

  • How long is the school closure expected to last?

    At this time, Governor Ducey is requesting that all schools in Arizona remain closed through the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Any updates regarding graduation, end-of-year procedures, grading, etc. will be sent directly to families via the district's Blackboard messaging system as well as posted on this webpage and social media.

  • What is the district doing for graduation?

    Beginning, Monday, May 18, YUHSD will begin Class of 2020 Recognition Week. Each night one campus will showcase its Class of 2020 through a virtual ceremony on Facebook at www.facebook.com/YUHSD70. The ceremonies will also be available on YUHSD’s official YouTube channel and the school and district websites at that time. Note: viewers do not need a Facebook account to view the ceremonies. 

    Each virtual ceremony will include a message from YUHSD Superintendent Gina Thompson and the school principal, speeches from students, an individual recognition of each student in the cohort, and more.

  • Will there be a physical, more traditional graduation ceremony?

    At this time, we have not ruled out a future in-person graduation ceremony. However, at this time, due to mandated social-distancing orders we are moving forward with virtual ceremonies. If there are changes to city or state orders that would allow for us to conduct a ceremony safely, the district will work to find a suitable future date and notify all families in a timely manner.

  • How can students pick up their graduation regalia?

    Seniors will have an opportunity to pick up any previously ordered graduation regalia beginning, Monday, May 4. The distribution plan was created by campus leaders to adhere to social distancing practices and provide the most convenient access for families to pick up their orders. It will be DRIVE-UP ONLY. 

    Dates for regalia pick up: 

    Monday, May 4: Students with last names beginning with A-F (8-11 a.m.); Students with last names beginning with G-L (1- 4 p.m.).

    Tuesday, May 5: Students with last names beginning with M-R (8-11 a.m.); Students with last names beginning with S-Z (1-4 p.m.) Note: students who miss their previous pickup date and time may pick up their orders from 1-4 p.m. on May 5.

  • What if I want a refund for graduation regalia?

    The purchase of all graduation regalia went through a third-party vendor. You would have to contact the vendor that you made the purchase from in order to inquire about a refund. Yuma, San Luis, and Cibola utilize Jostens, while Kofa, Gila Ridge, and Vista utilize Balfour.

    The district is processing refunds for spring athletic fees and prom for all students. The refunds will be issued in the form of a check and mailed to families. At this time, YUHSD cannot provide a specific date when families will receive their respective refunds.

  • How do I pick up items left at campus (ceramics projects, items in locker room, etc)?

  • How can students pick up their yearbook?

    Our schools are awaiting yearbooks from the printing companies. As of April 17, the printing companies are not in operation. Families interested in still ordering a yearbook may do so through the school’s online webstore. The district will announce future procedures for picking up ordered yearbooks once we have more information from the printers.

  • Are YUHSD students going to receive assignments digitally during the closure?

    YUHSD teachers are utilizing the Canvas Learning Management System for digital learning. Assignments and objectives are posted regularly and are related to standards that were not met in class prior to March 13, 2020. For information about how to access Canvas, click here.

  • How will I know if my son or daughter is going to pass their classes?

    Teachers are using Canvas to post resources to help their students master the standards that have not yet been met in their classes. Grades and feedback will be posted in Canvas for the remainder of the school year. Final grades will be posted in Synergy at the end of the spring semester. It is important that your son or daughter log into Canvas every day to stay up to date with their assignments.

  • My chromebook isn't working. What can I do?

    Campus bookstore managers can provide phone support to you.  Please call your campus bookstore between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Bookstore staff will be able to help diagnose the problem and determine if the chromebook needs to be replaced. Numbers for each campuses bookstore are as follows:

  • Is YUHSD nutrition services providing meals for children?

    Beginning Tuesday, March 17, all Yuma Union High School District campuses will be serving “grab-and-go” meals Monday through Friday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The meals will be available at no cost to any child 18 years old or younger (no student ID will be required). Each campus will serve in the front of the school near their respective administrative office.

  • Will YUHSD pay its faculty and staff during the closures?

    Yes. The YUHSD Governing Board unanimously passed by vote a resolution on Wednesday, March 18 that will "allow employees to care for the needs of their families" by allowing Superintendent Gina Thompson to authorize regularly scheduled pay to all YUHSD employees. This includes long-term subsitutes.

  • What can we do to help prevent and respond to bullying related to the COVID-19 situation?

    Some people of Chinese and Asian decent are facing stigma in their communities, regardless of whether they been exposed to COVID-19. 

    FACT: People—including those of Asian descent—who have not recently traveled to China or been in contact with a person who is a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 are not at greater risk of acquiring and spreading COVID-19 than other Americans.
