Kofa High School sends 125 students to HOSA Leadership Conference
Kofa High School sent 125 medical assisting, nursing and sports medicine students to the Arizona HOSA Fall Leadership Conference in Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018.
“Attending this conference gave students an opportunity to gain more health-care specific knowledge from health care professionals in workshops, building their leadership skills and networking with over 3,000 Arizona HOSA members and advisors,” KHS nursing teacher Diana Marquart said.
The event was highlighted by keynote speaker Heather Schultz, author of “Live Extraordinary,” and four breakout sessions and workshops, including sessions on topics such as how to become a nurse, digital leadership, health information management and much more.
HOSA, formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America, is a national career and technical student organization composed of middle school, secondary, and postsecondary/collegiate students, along with professional, alumni, and honorary members. This year’s leadership conference was the organization’s largest ever, according to their official brochure.
