Kofa Student Keiley Sharp Selected for AIA Student Leadership Committee
Kofa High School senior Keiley Sharp was nominated by the KHS Athletics Department earlier this year to be a representative on the Arizona Interscholastic Association 6A Conference Student Leadership Committee for 2017-2018.
Sharp was one of only three female athletes and three male athletes who were chosen for this distinction across Arizona to represent the 6A Conference, which includes 41 high schools. Sharp has participated in volleyball, basketball and track this year at Kofa, excelling both as a student-athlete and in the classroom.
Sharp will be serving as an advisor at AIA meetings and will speak on behalf of other AIA athletes in the 6A Conference. She will be advising on a variety of topics relating to student athletes, and will also receive acknowledgement in pre-game announcements. When asked about her new role, Sharp said she was “honored to not only represent Yuma, but our entire division and it gave me a sense of confidence that I was chosen.”
As part of the committee, Sharp expects to be challenged with difficult, but said she looks forward to pushing the committee forward and representing the AIA 6A athletes with pride.
The AIA is a voluntary association of public and private high schools, which was established by and is responsible to its members. The history of the AIA, which can be traced back to 1913, has been marked by rapid growth, constant improvement, and successful achievement of its major goals. These achievements have occurred primarily through the harmonious and cooperative efforts of those individuals who have been selected by the membership to represent their interest.
