SLHS Student Council earns highest state recognition
San Luis High School’s Student Council has earned the Arizona Association of Student Council’s (AASC) highest award, the Outstanding Council of Distinction, for the fourth year in a row.
AASC sets forth criteria every student council organization can apply to. All submissions are reviewed by the AASC board members, and can win one of the three awards – Honorable Mention, Council of Distinction and Outstanding Council of Distinction. The submissions are presented on a slideshow and contain information on all the great accomplishments each group achieves throughout the school year.
Timothy Rebek has been the SLHS Student Council advisor since 2007. Of the recognition, he said, “I truly get to work with the best students in Arizona, and every day this council teaches me how to be a better person, teacher and mentor.”
SLHS Student Council has won the Outstanding Council of Distinction seven of the last eight years. The only year they did not receive this award, they were given the Council of Distinction award.
