Yuma High Class of 2023 AVID spread kindness and positivity as part of World Kindness Day
In honor of World Kindness Day, the Yuma High School AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Class of 2023 worked to spread messages of positivity and kindness through a collaboration with North End Coffeehouse on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019.
AVID students wrote messages on coffee sleeves that will be shared with North End Coffeehouse patrons.
"I like this project because the quotes we are sharing are quotes that I wish someone would have shared with me when I was having a bad day,” YUHS freshman Itzel Molina said. “Maybe this will help someone else who’s struggling. It's good to make people smile, even if it's just a little grin."
According to YHS teacher Betsy Jacobson, this week students are challenging themselves to do an act of kindness for someone they know in need, themselves, and a stranger.
World Kindness Day is celebrated annually on Nov. 13 throughout the world. Its intent is to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness which binds humanity.
