Cibola students volunteer at Special Olympics event
Students from Cibola High School Unified Sports & Career Exploration classes volunteered at the Special Olympics Elementary Bocce Ball Tournament on Nov. 22-23, 2019.
The students assisted with scorekeeping and refereeing as well as helping the younger students engage in competition.
“We are excited about this event because our students had an opportunity to collaborate with Special Olympics, while mentoring younger students and learning important skills such as measuring, score keeping, and problem solving," CHS teacher Jonica Flores said. “The students learned valuable skills and are look forward to volunteering again in the future.”
Last month, Cibola’s boys unified swim team won a state title in the 200m relay, while the girls team finished in the top 4.
