KHS MCJROTC program qualifies for nationals with first place finish at American Legion Post 255 Regional Drill Competition
Kofa High School’s Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Drill Team won the fourth Annual American Legion Post 255 Drill Meet on Dec. 7, 2019 at Sweetwater High School in San Diego. Thirteen schools from California and Arizona attended the event, including Marine Corps, Air Force and Navy JROTC programs.
With this win, Kofa’s drill team and color guard qualify for the Marine Corps National Drill Competition to be held in Daytona, Florida on April 30, 2020. This will be the fourth year in a row that Kofa's JROTC Drill Team has qualified for the National Drill Competition. The drill and color guard teams are coached by Marine Instructor Retired Sgt Maj Colen Laarman, who is in his fifth year with the program.

*Platoon Sergeant Cadet 1stSgt Jonathan Silva was the tiebreaker with a score of 99 out of 100 for their exhibition performance.
Unarmed Regulation Team - Cadet GySgt Alexcia Gutierrez, Third place
Varsity Color Guard - Cadet Sgt Richard Orozco, Third Place
Freshman Unarmed Team No. 2 - Cadet Cristian Grimaldi, Seventh place
JV Color Guard - Cadet Nolani Jones, Ninth place finish
