YUHSD collaborates with local colleges to provide virtual info session
Yuma Union High School District and several Yuma-area colleges and universities are collaborating to host a virtual information session for students and families on Thursday, April 23.
The event, titled "Cost-Saving Local College Options: A Virtual Info Session," will be hosted on Facebook Live from 6-7 p.m. and will allow for families to ask questions “live” in the comments section or by submitting a form in advance. Representatives from the University of Arizona-Yuma, Arizona Western College, Arizona State University, and others will be in attendance. YUHSD guidance counselors will take part in the forum as well.
Families may follow the information session at www.facebook.com/YUHSD70, beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
“The forum is another way for our local education partners to connect with families and provide assistance to families in any way they can,” said YUHSD Chief Communications Officer Eric Patten, who will be moderating the event. “The hope is that students can hear about what options they have locally. If they had college plans that were disrupted due to COVID-19, there may be affordable options in Yuma that they were not aware existed.”
Those interested in asking a question in advance of the information session, and further assuring it’s received, are encouraged to fill out this brief submission form online: https://bit.ly/CollegeOptionsQuestions. Note: Questions will only be answered at that pertain to the topics of college-going and cost-saving options.
