Kofa Art Students win prizes in Patriotic Art Contest
Three Kofa High School seniors earned awards for their submissions to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8242 and Auxiliary Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest.
Kofa’s Gavin Marquez received the first-place award of $150 from the Post and $150 from the Auxiliary for his work titled “Liberty,” a pencil drawing. Corina Castillo earned second place and received an award of $100 from the Post and $100 from the Auxiliary for her mixed media art piece titled, “Best Friend.” And Jesus Espinoza received third place for his work titled, “Crossing the Delaware” and was awarded $100 from the Post and $100 from the Auxiliary.
All participants received certificates and pins. Other students participating in the contest included Stephanie Castro, Kassia Beard, and Ulyses Renteria.
The VFW Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest has been promoting young artists by encouraging patriotism since 1979. More than 4,000 students nationally submit projects for consideration.
